I have some exciting news to share with you all. Tomorrow, at Jackman Hall, a film called #SelfHelp, directed by Emma Arsenault, will be released as part of the Doc Now Festival 2019.
I'm thrilled to say that the film features a glimpse into my mental health journey, from a place of suicidal thoughts and a 5-week hospitalization, to pursuing my passion in art. It's been a long and difficult journey, but I'm proud to have come this far.
This film is not just about my story, though. It's a critical examination of the gaps in Toronto's mental health care system. After facing ongoing challenges seeking support, three young women decided to take matters into their own hands. Through the use of social media, community workshops, and a dedication to knowledge-sharing, these women began to heal themselves and others.
I'm honored to have been a part of this project, and I can't wait to share it with you all. It would mean the world to me if you could join me in celebrating this moment and raising awareness around mental health.
